10 Pre-Owned Scania Trucks Begin New Life on the Road to Tanzania
A fleet of ten pre-owned trucks from the Swedish manufacturer Scania has officially begun its long journey north, departing a South African dealership yard this week en route to their new operational base in Tanzania. The trucks, recently purchased by a growing East African logistics operator, are expected to strengthen regional transport capacity along one of Africa’s busiest freight corridors.
A Second Life for Proven Workhorses
The ten units—primarily long-haul tractor models from the Scania R-series and Scania G-series lineups—were sourced from South Africa’s pre-owned commercial vehicle market. Each truck underwent mechanical inspection, refurbishment, and compliance checks before being approved for export and long-distance delivery.
Industry specialists say the demand for reliable pre-owned trucks across East Africa continues to rise as logistics networks expand and infrastructure investment grows.
“Pre-owned trucks from brands like Scania offer a balance between durability and affordability,” said a spokesperson involved in the transaction. “These units still have many years of service left, which makes them ideal for emerging logistics markets.”
